Textiles classes joined together to create handmade quilts for children with parents serving overseas.
"Making these quilts really made me feel close to these families. I enjoyed creating something that these kids will use everyday to stay close with their parents who aren't there," said junior Alex Lukasavage.
Making quilts with family pictures sewn inside the fabric, the textile students made this project become so much more. The classes have sewn four quilts for two different families. The goal of providing children under the age of six years old with a blanket to provide comfort while their parent(s) is away risking thier own lives for our country.
"I think it's really important because they have learned something new. They learned a skill and talent that's a life skill. It's always good to give back your talents and to give back whatever we can to the community and share what we've learned with others," said Mrs. Eileen Clements, art teacher.
