The swim team swam S-U-P-E-R fast at the IAAM Championships. They took place on Sunday February 5 at McDonough School. They came in fourth following NDP, McDonough and Spalding.
The girls competed against six teams in the A conference and it was tough competition. The top eight girls for each even received a medal. Cassie Jordan, Katie Nevin, Kelly Long, and Kristen Vargas broke the school record in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1.41.02 finishing second over all.
“It felt good to break my sister’s record in the 200 free relay” said junior Katie Nevin.
Kristen Vargas broke the 100 breast record, which she set earlier in the season, with a time of 1.07.45
Danielle Dunn, '10 came to support the team. “It’s great that girls love sailor swimming so much that they come back to support the team. We appreciate the support,” said senior Colleen Crawford.
For the seniors it was a bitter sweet day; it was their last meet as being sailor swimmers. They said the famous Bananas Cheer and S-U-P-E-R fast mid meet cheer for the last time.
“It was really sad to say the cheers for the last time, but I am proud of the job we did” said senior Chantel Hunter.
