Spring Arrives at the Mount!

Students enjoy lunch out on the piazza on March 14th.

With the temperatures this week in the 70s and 80s, Mount de Sales is enjoying its first taste of warm weather this year! Not only are the trees and flowers blooming, many students and teachers are also finding their way into the sun.

Several teachers have taken their classes outside, from Mrs. Cardall's Lifetime Fitness classes to Mrs. McDowell's English classes. "We went outside and studied Romantic poetry yesterday, which was perfect because the Romantics prized nature. It was fun and it tied in to the lesson very well!" said senior Emily Ordakowski.

In their time outside of class, students flock to the piazza to get some fresh air. Nearly a third of the student body took lunch outside this week and ate with their friends in the sun. Eating lunch in the piazza is a tradition that students have been taking part in for several years, and this week marks the first time it has been warm enough to do it.

"I love eating outside because it gets me out of the building and I can work on my tan while hanging out with my friends and eating," said senior Caitlin Shoemaker. Hopefully the weather will stay this beautiful for the rest of the year as spring and summer approach.
