March 11 could not come faster for new Campus Minister, Ms. Collyer. She told everyone who passed her in the hall, that her mom was coming to visit.
“Special guest, Momma Jam is coming all the way from California to meet everyone,” said Ms. Collyer.
Ms. Collyer is enthusiastic about God, her job, and her family. Although the all-school retreat is taking up her time, she always has time for her mom. Ms. Collyer is very close to her family but because of the distance she has not seen them much this year.
"I'm really excited to be here with my favorite daughter (only daughter)" said Mrs. Collyer, who works as an Archdiocesan religious leader in Walnut Creek, California.
Her daughter made sure her mom felt like part of the MDS family; she gave her a tour and introduced her to everyone.
“Ms. Collyer’s mom is just an older version of her. She is just as fun and enthusiastic,” said senior Jess Auburger.
No distance can change the cloesness of the Collyer family. Ms. Collyer is traveling back home to California for spring break.
