Ms. James visits the Big Apple

Art teacher, Ms. James attended the National Art Educat Association in New York city last week. On the first night of the three day event, art teachers created hats for an ice breaker exercise. Ms. James, who loves to wear flowers in her hair, made a paper flower with zebra paper.
The 2012 NAEA National Convention theme was  "Emerging Perspectives - Connecting Teaching, Learning, and Research". Over 7,000 teachers from all over the Country gathered to explore new ideas and improve visual arts education.
"I was inspired by guest speaker Chuck Close, a well-known contemporary artist,” said James.  "His famous quote is 'Ease is the enemy of the artist,' which means a good struggle is worth it for an artist."
She also met two former students for dinner - class of 2011 alum Maria Romanelli and Nina Bergbauer.
