Varsity Lacrosse Coaching Spotlights

Reform has been rampant for Mount de Sales Academy’s girl’s lacrosse coaching staff over the past four years. The coaching line-up has been amplified to a new level with young, experienced, and knowledgeable lacrosse experts who will help build and enhance this young MDS team.
Head coach, Abree Johnson recruited three new coaches to join the team this year. Mr. Mike Tirrochi returns to Mount de Sales, having coached both basketball and lacrosse in the past. Mr. Randy Hawes comes to Mount de Sales from Liberty High School in Carroll County, Maryland. Ms. Kristen Hise debuts at Mount de Sales as a defensive specialist who played lacrosse for Cornell University from 2009 to 2011.
“I am extremely excited for our new coaches this year. We haven’t lost a game yet this year and I think that the coaches have a great deal to do with it. The girls are working hard and learning a lot,” said Johnson.
Hise has been working with JV coach Emily Reese, a Mount de Sales Alumnae, as a defensive coach. Hawes works with the varsity team’s defense and Tirrochi works with the offense.
“It is such an honor to come to a great program such as de Sales. The girls work hard and they have impressed me immensely. I’m very excited to continue working with the team to improve and win games,” said Hawes.
Johnson also noted the coaches’ excitement for the new turf field that is being built this summer. She believes it will give the school and the lacrosse program a new edge and set them up for more success in the future.
The team debuts in the IAAM A conference on Friday, March 23 against St. Mary’s High School at home at 4 PM.
